Kitchen Accessory MUSTS

What kitchen 'accessories' do you use ALL the time that just can't live without? Here are my true loves...

Cheapo plastic mixing spoons. We received these as a wedding gift and I honestly could not live without them. They aren't made out of fancy plastic or anything (I've melted a few of them). They aren't fancy at all. But they are my mixing spoon of choice...even over my much nicer wooden and plastic spoons. The shallow shape of the spoon just makes them awesome.

Pyrex mixing bowl set. I use these ALL THE TIME for EVERYTHING. My friend Ashely gave them to me when she moved. I still wonder how she is living without them. Oven proof, microwave safe, different sizes, shatterproof (for the most part...I'm sure if I tried really hard I could break them). And look at this set here...they even have lids. I may have to upgrade!

Utensil holder. I love my utensil holder. Mine is a wooden canister from Crate & Barrel with the lid removed. We received one of these for a wedding present (the original is since broken) and it's something as a newlywed I would have overlooked as a kitchen necessity. But having all of my utensils handy on the counter is the BEST.

As you can see, my tried and true 'accessories' are quite simple. But I feel pretty passionately about how they improve my quality of life. What do you use ALL THE TIME that you just can't live without?

My musts:
Rice Cooker. Hands-down.
Best invention since wooden spoons, in my opinion.

The tool I can't live without is my OXO Silicone Turner. It can withstand heat up to 650º without melting! I'm terrible for leaving my turners in the frying pan. It's also nice to have a turner that won't scrape my pans. I'd have to say it's the best $9 investment I've ever made for my kitchen.

My mom just got me this can opener that I love. It's a manual opener that cuts around the top of the can, removing the whole lid, instead of inside the can, leaving the sharp edge. It was only a couple of bucks I think, but it's the best. It makes one less thing to worry about with small kids in the kitchen.

I also love, LOVE my Williams-Sonoma metal measuring spoons. A friend tied them to the top of our wedding gift as a cute and useful decoration. They're way better than the plastic ones my mom still uses and are so study they don't bend like the cheap ones from the grocery store.

The other must have for us is our Braun imersion blender. It came with a food processor/chopper attachment that we use all the time - baby food, salsa...you name it, we've used the chopper to make it.

living in a temporary, partially furnished apartment is teaching me the things I'm glad I brought and wished I packed after all.

Potato/bean/baby food masher
butter dish
colander
cinnamon - sugar shaker
a nice deep pot for boiling
more then 4 forks

I love my microplane/zester/grater thing (I really don't know which one it is but I use it for everything). It works great for garlic. I saw Rachel Ray do this. When I need garlic I just grate it right over the pan. No chopping. I know I could buy the jarred crushed garlic, I am just not a fan.

My sheet pans. Yes, they are great for yummy cookies but I use them for everything. To roast veggies (esp. potatoes), to prep when I need a large space, to transport back and forth to the grill.

My newest favorite is my pizza cutter . I use it to cut everything up for my daughter. It works on just about anything and I can get small enough pieces for her to pick up and eat.

I second melissapher on the OXO Silcone Turner (I've also melted a few turners and spatulas in my life). And I would be completely lost without my Wüsthof Grand Prix Santuko knife. It was my only nice knife before we got married and even though we got a new set for our wedding, it's what I always go back to ...

I, too use the cheap plastic spoons-love them. My whisk is important as well, spatula, and my humongous plastic bowl with a lid, great for huge salads and mixing large amounts of whatever. :)

I'm such a nerd, but I can't live without my George Foreman grill.

I second momza. I love my rice cooker.

My cutting board that doesn't slide across the counter, my Santoku knife from Cutco, and my Cutco kitchen scissors are the things I use the most. What could I not live without.....my coffee maker!
