Roadtrip! Chocolate Cake Donuts

Seeing a trend? My vacations are full of all kinds of healthy food...Dunford’s Chocolate Cake donuts at Utah-local 'Dan’s' grocery stores are the BEST. There really is no other donut quite like this. They put all other donuts to shame, especially the ones with that waxy chocolate icing.

Stop it! Seriously. I have had to explain to everyone I come across why I do not like Dunkin' Donuts or even Krispy Kremes. When you grow up eating those tasty donuts from Dan's...and a few other bakeries...there's no comparison.

I am having so much on my vicarious trip to UT. :)

Are you trying to kill me? ;) So now I'm craving orange rolls, chocolate donuts, and that mention of pumpkin chocolate chip bread is still in the back of my mind. Oh jeez, I think I might need to throw out my bathroom scale.

Hey! I grew up shopping at Dan's Foods in Cottonwood Heights. I spent a small fortune at their ice-cream counter.

Good memories!

P.S. My trips to San Diego and Salt Lake always revolve around where I want to eat while I'm there. The visiting family part is alright, but it's the FOOD I get most excited about!

They sell the same tasty donuts at 7-11 and also by the dozen at Costco, if you dare buy them in bulk...I know this because that was one of my top pregnancy cravings :-)

I LOVE LOVE the Dunford chocolate cake doughnuts! But are they only a Utah thing? I recently moved to South Carolina and they are nowhere to be found :(

yup, denise...I think it is only a utah thing. my parents were talking about which dan's grocery store had the original dunford donuts baked in it. sure wish some donut maker somewhere else would catch on and make them!!!

I live only a few blocks from the Dunkin' Donut store in West Jordan. I stumbled onto your website searching for a calorie count for the donuts. My husband bought them for team treats and their was a dozen left over - lucky me? What's for dinner - what a great concept. Thanks for sharing!

glad you found the blog! and, I would recommend not pursuing that calorie information any further! :)
