Time to talk dessert. I have no idea what I'm going to do this year for dessert, so I can't really give you my plan yet. I love dessert, but I always get so worn out from making the dinner that I tend to cheat a bit when it comes to the sweets. Hence, no real dessert insight here on the blog.
I WILL provide you with an amazing (and easy) French Silk Pie recipe from my sis-in-law Cora's family (see below). And as far as pumpkin pie goes, I always just follow the directions on the can of pumpkin and it comes out just fine (and yes, I buy pre-made crust). See, I am certainly no Thanksgiving dessert expert. Today I'm counting on YOU to share your best Thanksgiving dessert recipes! Please post!!!
French Silk Pie
- 3. oz unsweetened chocolate squares (melted and cooled)
- 1/2 C butter
- 1 C sugar
- 1 T vanilla
- 4 Eggs
Melt and cool chocolate. Cream butter - add sugar and vanilla and mix. Add chocolate. Add 2 eggs and beat on high 5 mins. Add 2 more eggs beat on high 5 minutes. I use a pre-made graham cracker crust. Top with whipped cream. Keep refrigerated.

Since I don't have to make the whole meal, I'm going to be making desserts and a side. I think I have decided on a sour cream apple pie and a lemon meringue tart, but that might change in the next few days!
my favorite part of any meal... desert! i'm sure you all have your favorites, but here are some newbies that are definitely worth trying! pumpkin gingerbread trifle & spice cake with coffee toffee crunch.
this is my new no-fail pumpkin pie recipe. it is seriously the best pumpkin pie I have ever had. don't be intimidated by the fact that you will have to bake a pumpkin. this recipe is really not hard at all, it will just take a little more time + planning. trust me, you'll thank me later.
My husband has requested a pumpkin cheesecake, so that's the plan here...if I get to the store to get what I need for it.
I'm making Pumpkin Bread, Cheesecake Cookies, and I'm going to attempt to make a cherry pie from scratch. I'm using frozen cherries and everything. Wish me luck!
You can't go wrong with Chocolate Silk Pie!
In our family everyone makes a pie or two so there is usually quite a selection. I'm doing Pecan and French Apple.
thanks for all the ideas, recipes & links to recipes! so helpful and delicious sounding...and I'm sure a good resource for others as well. Keep it coming! :)
